1 Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon
to take part in the three o’clock prayer service.
2 As they approached the Temple, a man lame from
birth was being carried in. Each day he was put
beside the Temple gate, the one called the
Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people
going into the Temple. 3 When he saw Peter and
John about to enter, he asked them for some
money. 4 Peter and John looked at him intently,
and Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 The lame man looked
at them eagerly, expecting some money. 6 But Peter
said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll
give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ
the Nazarene, get up and walk!” 7 Then Peter took
the lame man by the right hand and helped him up.
And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were
instantly healed and strengthened. 8 He jumped up,
stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking,

The fourth core value at Orlando World
Outreach Center is Compelling
Environment – creating an environment
that honors the presence of God, and
welcomes the community through
excellence. What is it, though, that makes
our environment so compelling? It’s the
presence of God that demands the
attention of individuals and draws them in.
Today, let’s look at what it means to create
an environment that (1) honors the
presence of God and (2) welcomes the
1. Honors the Presence of God
● Ephesians 1:22-23
● Colossians 1:18
● Colossians 3:23-24
When you honor someone, it means to
give high respect to that person. In
honoring the presence of God, we
choose to reverence and esteem Him
because of who He is and what He has
done for us. Practically speaking, we
honor God by aligning to His commands
and promises, with every area of our lives.
This is a journey which begins in our
hearts first and then takes powerful affect
in the environments we find ourselves.
● What areas in your life are you
purposefully honoring God?
2. Welcomes the Community
● Romans 12:6-11
The key to really loving others is about our
motivation. If we are motivated by our
relationship with each other, it can become
self-serving and ultimately self-destruct.
However, if we are motivated by God, we
are choosing to live the way He’s called us to.
We are loving one another, not because it
makes us or them feel good - we’re doing it
to honor God.

● If you are currently serving in an area of
ministry, how has God used your
department to welcome the community?
1. What is one thing you learned that you will
apply to your life this week?
2. Is the Holy Spirit revealing any ways in
which you can either (1) honor God or
(2) welcome the community better?
