The second core value at Orlando
World Outreach Center is Authentic
Community - honoring and celebrating
our diversity through sharing life
together to become a people pleasing
to the Lord.
Authentic Community is built through
purposefully knowing and being known
by others and truly walking life put
together. In other words, Authentic
Community is built through intentional
Let’s take a brief look at what it looks
like being an Authentic Community.
Defined by Jesus
● John 1:12-13
When you become part of most any
group there is a type of initiation
process. To be a part of a sports team,
you have to try out. For any job you
have to first be interviewed. When
you’re initiated to a family, it’s through
birth, adoption, or marriage.
It the same with being part of God’s
family. We are all initiated when we
repent of our sins and receive Jesus as
our Savior. At that point, we are
adopted as God’s son or daughter and
added to His family. This family is
defined by Jesus as He is the
foundation of who we are.
● What false ideas/experiences do
you recognize that have been a
hurdle for you in being part of
Live in Unity
● Colossians 3:14-17
● Ephesians 4:2-6
Living in unity doesn’t mean that we
will 100% agree on everything. It
means we know and agree on who we
are and are called to be and do. Unity
is established by Jesus’ love, which is
what brings us together.
One way we live in unity is growing in
our faith together. If we are truly
unified, we are all growing together -
no person left out or left behind. This
might mean that we look around to
see if there is someone we can
encourage and help. This also might
mean that, if we’re not growing, we
reach out to someone that can walk
● Have you struggled living in unity
with other believers? Please
● Tell of your personal experience of
growing in faith with others.
Choose Intentional Intimacy
● Hebrews 10:24-25
Choosing to be intentionally intimate
means not worrying about just getting
what you want, but it’s about playing
your part of the whole and giving as
well. Intentionally intimacy asks the
questions, “What can I give?,” “ What
do I bring to the table?,” and “How can I
participate in a greater way?.” It means
coming with an open heart and guards
down for the good of the whole.
● Has intentional intimacy ever been
difficult for you? Please explain.
● Tell of a time when you’ve seen
intentional intimacy work in
● What are ways that you’ve seen
Authentic Community in action?
● Are you playing your part in Authentic
Community? If not, what can you do to
become a part? If you are, how will you
encourage others to do the same?
